Spatial Mechanics Woven Through Movement

This house explores how the kinetic and structural qualities of “weaving” can be translated into architectural space. The project began with the client's desire to incorporate a textile-themed studio into their home. Inspired by the movement of knitting needles—hooking, twisting, and looping yarn—the design interlaces multiple layers of circulation: horizontal paths, intersecting flows, and spiraling vertical connections. The 4.5-meter-high living area doubles as a gallery, while the sunken dining floor, surrounded by corridor seating, becomes both a gathering space and informal auditorium. The central table serves as a dining surface in daily life and transforms into a studio bench during workshops. Avoiding fixed programming, the functions of each space are continually rewoven—allowing the house to take on new configurations in response to shifting use. Through this dynamic and polyfunctional organization, a spiral-like spatial logic is crystallized.
