Stratified Spatiality through a Courtyard

This residence is planned on a site of approximately 400 sqm, located in the historic district of Kamakura, just a short walk from the station. With a residential street to the east and a forested hillside to the west, the site sits at the intersection of urban and natural contexts. In response, the building is organized in an L-shape that embraces a main garden to the southwest. At the center of the house, a courtyard shaped like a small hill is inserted, allowing the vegetation of the mountain and the courtyard—external and internal natures—to overlap and interweave, aiming to create a spatial depth and transparency.
